With over 3000 live performances under his belt, Mike literally grew up with a guitar in his hands. The guitar went everywhere with him; home, school, parties, even to bed with him. He studied music and guitar performance as a kid. After high school, he continued studying guitar at an advanced level at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. In the years soon after college, he formed the band Funhouse; a hard rock band based in Philadelphia, PA.
Funhouse was regionally successful in the late 80s. They were signed to a record deal and recorded one album that was ultimately distributed nationally by CBS. Mike and the band played a grueling schedule of 5-7 shows per week locally and in different cities throughout the Northeast US. Mike was the lead guitarist and primary writer for “Funhouse” until they broke up in the early 1990’s.
During the 1990’s, Mike played in various local cover and original bands 4-5 night per week. During the day he worked as a union session guitarist recording several national and regional radio commercials and taught guitar.
Throughout the early 2000’s Mike continued to play the NJ/PA/DE live music circuit.
The guys had a dream of performing their favorite music from their favorite guitarist, Rhandy Rhodes. So in 2014 Mike joined forces with his 14 year old guitar prodigy son, and The Land Of Ozz was born.
For The Land Of Ozz, Mike’s live gear typically includes: EVH Wolfgang, Hammer Flying V, Parker Fly, Kemper Profiler and 3 stacks of amps.
In addition to music, Mike loves airplanes, dirt bikes, and science. He is a commercial rated pilot, has raced MX bikes, and has worked as an actual scientist.
